Alzheimer’s Day Services of Memphis-Project #1
(4585 Raleigh Lagrange Rd {12 miles/15 min} & 3185 Hickory Hill {18 miles/22 min})
Assist memory-impaired participants at the two care centers, which were designed to offer respite for the primary caregiver as well as, therapeutic recreation for the person with dementia.
Types of projects available at this location:
-activities/crafts for the participants
-small fix-it/repair projects
-light yard work
Number of workers needed: 10 at each center
Minimum age: 18
Time commitment: (two shifts are available at each center)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Memphis-Project #2
(81Tillman Street {5 miles/15 min})
Help turn a dream into a reality. BBBS of Memphis has been working on an abandoned lot in downtown Memphis (just down the street from their headquarters). What was once a neglected and overgrown plot of land will be transformed into an urban garden. This garden will serve as both a showpiece and a productive and viable source or nourishment. Workers interested in this project will be able to see the results of their hard work at the end of the day.

Family Services of Mid-South-Project #3
(3485 Poplar Avenue, #210 {6 miles/16 min})
Seniors who have been victims of crime are matched with volunteers who will help with things like: small jobs around the house, running errands, light construction projects, and even a little yard work.
Types of projects available at this location:

-yard work (pruning, raking)

Time Commitment: 1day/1house (10 families in need)

Memphis Food Bank-Project #4
(6 different locations/projects)
(locations vary from 5-15 miles away, depends upon the site selected)
The Memphis (formerly Mid South) Food Bank works each day to service the disadvantaged within the metro area. By offering services like food pantries, kid’s café sites, and even backpack programs, MFB is able to meet people at the very point of their needs. Volunteers are needed to help with everything from repacking donated items, and stocking the pantry shelves, to serving meals at the various café locations and packing kids backpacks with wholesome foods.

-sorting /repacking donated items
-stocking pantry shelves
-distributing items
-serving meals at the kids café locations
-packing backpack with items
Number of workers needed:
-Food Sorting/Repacking- 30 workers @ 2 locations (60 total)
-Food Pantry-5 workers (max)
-Kids Café- 10 workers @ 4 different locations (40 total)
-Kids Backpack program-10 workers
Minimum age: Kids Café- 18 minimum age, all other locations must
be at least 10 years old and accompanied by an adult.

Metropolitan Inter Faith Association-Project #5
(910 Vance Avenue{3miles/10 min})
The Metropolitan Inter Faith Association (or MIFA for short) seeks to change their community by helping change lives. MIFA is unique. With a host of life-sustaining and life-skills programs, MIFA helps change more lives than any other organization in Memphis or the surrounding area. The effect? The community is becoming a more productive, unified and hopeful place to live, work and grow. Below are some ways that you can be a part of this truly life changing outreach.

-handyman for local elderly (light construction, yard work, plumbing)

-4-5 driver teams needed for food deliveries(must have a vehicle)

-light construction/yard work-families w/children welcome

-Meals program- everyday between 9:30AM-12PM
-Handyman- times vary, basically 9-3, or until work in completed

Mewtopia Cat Rescue-Project #6
(734 Mt Moriah Rd{19 miles/24 min})
This location would be the perfect opportunity for animal lovers. Mewtopia Cat Rescue is in need of outgoing animal lovers who would be willing to assist with everything from cleaning and care, to working in the gift shop and assisting with adoptions.

-adoption assistance

Minimum age: 18 (or mature teens supervised by an adult)

Porter-Leath-Project #7
(multiple locations, drive time varies)
For over 150 years, Porter-Leath has been the primary resource for Memphis' at-risk children and families. By focusing on the essential building blocks of healthy development, Porter-Leath not only gives them access to the tools they need, but also a sense of hope. The result is Porter-Leath helps build stronger children, stronger families and a stronger Memphis. Workers are needed to assist with the multiple projects at various campuses throughout the Memphis area. Most of these projects require no specific skills, just a desire to work hard and see results. On site guidance and materials will be provided.

Ronald McDonald House-Project #8
(2670 Union Avenue Extended{6 miles/12 min})
The Ronald McDonald House needs shift /special event workers to assist both patients and families with their needs. This worthwhile ministry seeks to provide lodging for families who are forced, due to their family member’s hospitalization, to be away from home for extended periods of time. The RMH provides a safe, loving environment for families to deal with serious illness and disease. Workers can help with things like group activities, crafts, and games. Help bring hope to a hurting family.

Shelby County Animal Protection Clinic-Project #9
(854 Goodman Street{9 miles/20 min})
The SCAPC serves the greater Memphis area. The clinic provides affordable local services for pet owners who could normally not afford basic veterinary fees. SCAPC needs the assistance of volunteers throughout the year, but especially on surgery days. Volunteers could help with things like intake, recovery, clean up, and check out of animals. A warm smile and a kind word is all that is needed.

-assisting with the intake of new animals
-checking on animals during their recovery period
-cleaning up holding areas/assisting with care
