DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
CBF Foundation/Fellowship Advancement
Responsibility: To work with the Coordinator of Fellowship Advancement and the President of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Foundation to develop and execute a comprehensive, strategic endowment and development program for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Foundation clients.
Reports To: President of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Foundation
Relates To: All CBF donor populations, Coordinating Council, CBFF Board of Directors, All CBF Staff
Supervises: No One
Duties:
1. Manage and maintain an active portfolio of 100 major donor prospects and make a consistent number of monthly contacts with priority donors as assigned by supervisors utilizing CBF and CBFF Moves Management strategies. (50%)
2. Maintain an adequate professional expertise in trends and practices to facilitate prompt and thorough response to bequest and planned gift inquiries. (5%)
3. Create and maintain current case statements for CBF endowment priorities. (5%)
4. Manage the involvement of Natural Partners to cultivate and solicit donor prospects in addition to this position’s own personal contacts. (10%)
5. Report all contacts weekly using the organization’s data management systems to ensure donor confidentiality and ease of efficient data retrieval. (5%)
6. Provide supervisors and colleagues who interact regularly with donors the necessary data and data analysis to allow maximum effectiveness in donor cultivation and solicitation. (10%)
7. Create and manage regular mass marketing appeals to generate bequests and planned gift leads using a variety of media. (10%)
8. To perform other duties as assigned. (5%)
Requirements
Education: Graduate degree or equivalent experience is required. Professional training in planned giving highly desired.
Experience: Minimum of ten years experience of progressively and verifiably successful experience in development, with a good working knowledge of not-for-profit development practices and not-for-profit management.
Skills: Knowledge of philanthropy and fund-raising principles. Exceptional research and writing skills. Excellent written and verbal communication in both the public and interpersonal arenas. Must have equal commitment to honoring and respecting the needs and desires of the donor, while meeting the financial and programmatic priorities of the organization. Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects under deadline, and a strong work ethic are mandatory. Extensive travel required.
