An Easter Prayer

By Daniel Vestal
4/1/2007

You are the wounded Messiah whom God raised from the dead.
And now by your Spirit you live among and within all who believe in you.
We are
Your Holy Temple
Your Mystical Body
Your Continuing Presence.

Since no individual and no group of individuals can exhaust your meaning,
All are necessary.
The richness of your character and ministry finds expression in the richness of your Church.
Some of us convey your gentle compassion and tender mercies better than others.
Some of us reflect your stern rebukes and passion for justice better than others.
Some of us are ecstatic,
Some of us are contemplative.
You live in each. Each lives in you.

Grant, O crucified, Living One,
That our union and communion be completed.
Our life and love be perfected,
Our spirits, inhabited by your Spirit,
Redound to the glory of God and the redemption of all creation
