Interfaith/Ecumenical Resources
In response to these priorities a Task Force on Ecumenism and Justice was launched at the 2003 General Assembly. Comprised of CBF clergy and laity, this group brought a recommendation that CBF become a full member of the Christian Churches Together in the U.S.A. (CCT). The recommendation was accepted by the Assembly and CBF was one of the founding signers of the organizing covenant for CCT.
While the work of the Task Force has ended, our commitment to Ecumenism and Justice continues. We continue to build relationships with denominations and other faith groups throughout our world. In 2004, CBF Congregational Life published a brochure “Building Bridges” which gives insights into ways to begin Ecumenical dialogue. In 2007, CBF and American Baptist Churches, USA held a combined assembly gathering in Washington, DC. The New Baptist Covenant is bringing together Baptist families for relationship building. Conversations continue with Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu friends.
We want to hear from you. If you are interested in assisting in this work or if you have further needs concerning ecumenism, interfaith relationships, or issues related to justice, please contact us. We are continuing to build resources and build bridges.
